About Byron
Byron and his wife, Ashley, moved to Washington in 2013. They knew that this would be their forever home and settled in University Place. It very quickly became clear that this wonderful city was home and Byron began getting involved where he could.
From volunteering at food banks, to working Duck Daze booths, to park clean-up crews, Byron has wanted to give back to the city he loves. For the last 3+ years, Byron has served on the University Place Planning Commission, and was appointed liaison to the Economic Development Advisory Commission. In 2023 he was invited to serve on the Public Safety Levy work group and also sat on the City’s Wayfinding Signage committee.
Byron is involved and passionate about all things University Place and would be honored and humbled to be your next City Council member.

Priority Issues
Youth Sports and Recreation - I believe we need to provide more opportunities for youth of all abilities and interests to get involved in sports and activities. We don’t need to reinvent the wheel though. We should work to find partners who can help provide the operations and utilize our built in community network. This should save on costs and resource demands to help us stay financially smart but still provide greater recreation activities for our youth.
Public Safety Oversight - As a former EMS professional, public safety and our first responders are close to my heart. I plan to continue with the support of our Fire and Police departments to ensure they are prepared to serve and protect. That said, traffic concerns are a big priority and I want to make our streets a safe place to walk, bike, or drive.
Home Ownership Opportunities - One of the greatest ways to gain generational financial stability for your family is through home ownership. That is no longer a given these days and home buyers require more options in order for them to be affordable or attainable. I want to steward smart, responsible, and sustainable growth within UP and provide the opportunity for more people to own the home they live in.
